EPC and the Russian Cinema Fund sign an agreement for Russian-European cooperation in film
The partnership involves supporting film projects for coproduction. EPC and the RCF will jointly select 3 to 5 European projects seeking Russian partners. Following selection, the RFC will match the projects with the right local partners or funding source. The projects will be presented this year at a dedicated event in Russia. EPC will follow up and provide assistance to projects right up until production.
The RCF may also present 3 to 5 Russian projects seeking European partners. EPC plans to invite a Russian delegation to the Berlinale in 2012 to represent these projects.
Russia has just been admitted as a member of the European co-production fund, Eurimages. “Russia’s return to international and European film industry relations confirms its desire to count as a real partner for the European nations,” says Chris Curling, President of the European Producers Club. “This new partnership between EPC and the Russian Cinema Fund is the first building block in what is sure to be a long-term and promising cooperation between nations.”
The Russian Cinema Fund is a Russian government initiative aimed at strengthening its national film industry. The European Producers Club is an association representing European film producers, with a long-term history of promoting international relations in the film industry on a global level.
