The European Producer Associations Alliance (EPAA) was launched at the Cannes Film Festival 2005.

It unites 33 of the most prominent national producer associations across Europe and is coordinated by the EPC team.

Close cooperation allows for common positions to be established on important issues facing the European film industry, and provides an extraordinary exchange of information and ideas.

Examples of our actions include:

  1. On a European level;
    • Numerous positions against amendment 138 of the Telecoms Package,
    • Meetings with the Head of the Media Programme to voice the demands of European film professionals when designing the new programme,
    • Position papers sent to the press, institutions and the European Commission on territoriality, the TWF directive, Piracy (Tiscali/Sabam), VOD,
  2. On a national level;
    • A formal objection addressed to the French Government in 2006 protesting « Global Licence » which would legalise the uncontrolled sharing of works over the Internet,
    • Defence of the German and Finnish producers in keeping their rights from the broadcasters,
    • Research on collective agreements.

A website is currently under construction and will be published in 2009. It provides background information on the EPAA, its members, and its activities.
