Caligari Film- und Fernsehproduktions GmbH was founded in 1986 by Gabriele M. Walther and is one of the leading independent production companies in Germany. The company is active in the 3 areas of factual entertainment, family entertainment, which includes both animation and live action formats, and drama series with strong female leads.
In the family entertainment sector, Caligari has produced numerous animated cinema films as well as series based on the most popular German children's brands such as COCONUT THE LITTLE DRAGON, THE MUSCLETEERS and KNIGHT RUSTY.
The current highlight of the factual department is the series PRINCESS OF SCIENCE, which was nominated for the prestigious Grimme Award as well as for Der Goldene Spatz, Germany's highest-ranking award for kid’s program.
In the field of drama series, Gabriele M. Walther was recently selected as one of the 6 finalists in the EPC’s Netflix Pitching Competition with the 6-part drama series RAMSTEIN.
Caligari Films has won several awards, including the German Comedy Award, the White Elephant for kid’s program and was nominated several times for the German Film Award with the apocalyptic thriller HELL.
Gabriele M. Walther was named Entrepreneur of the Year in Bavaria and is a board member of the Alliance of German Producers.
