THE LIONS OF SICILY is a 2023 Italian historical drama television series based on The Florios of Sicily by Stefania Auci. It premiered at the Rome Film Festival on 23 October 2023 and was released on Disney+. It follows the Florio family, where brothers Paolo and Ignazio turn a small shop in Sicily into a flourishing business activity that becomes an economic empire. Still, the arrival of a strong and intelligent woman disrupts the entire family’s life.

​Pesconormanno, 1996. Raffaele Acampora is a street hawker in the Caserta area. The Camorra bosses harass him because he refuses to pay them protection money. He decided to set up a trade union on his own and immediately managed to recruit several members from among his fellow street vendors. Raffaele and the other hawkers are threatened and ordered to pay the clan double. Acampora calms them down and gets a freelance journalist, Sergio De Luca, to publish the news of their strike. He also receives the support of the city council on the Councillor Rea initiative. But the threats against Raffaele continue. Carla Innaurato, the wife of the Camorra boss Domenica Innaurato, approaches Raffaele's sister and offers him money to leave for Canada, where they could start a new life. Still, when he hears about it, he indignantly refuses. His desperate wife arrives at the Innaurato villa and begs Carla to forgive Raffaele. Anna cannot reason with her husband, who is determined to continue on his path. Carla then tries to call Raffaele at the trade union office, but the line is busy, and it is too late, as he is about to be killed by Domenico.

Bruno Palmieri is a long-standing Roman crime reporter who during the decades has covered hundreds of cases; he has an infallible memory. He remembers people and details. Now on the threshold of retirement, Bruno cannot stop, because he is heading towards a second professional youth trying to solve old cases.
Meanwhile, there’s a newcomer at his newspaper, Maddalena, she’s Bruno’s natural daughter, the fruit of a relationship with an old flame, Paola, who left him immediately after he was injured, when she discovered she was
pregnant so as not to further upset his life.
