Palomar, founded by Carlo Degli Esposti in 1986, is one of the oldest independent Italian television and cinema production companies, a market leader in Italy in the drama sector for the main TV networks.

 

Since its inception, Palomar has worked across television and cinema, producing dramas, docudramas, movies, information programs and entertainment. So far, more than 100 productions have been completed and distributed, providing some of the most successful prime-time TV dramas of the last ten years. For TV, amongst other titles, Palomar is the producer of Inspector Montalbano, the Young Montalbano, Murders at Barlume and Maltese.

 

On the film side, the company has produced award-winning movies like Leopardi, Feather, the Fury of the Patient Man and Happy Prince.

Since 1999, the year in which the first episode "The Thief of Snacks" was broadcast, the character invented by the magical pen of Andrea Camilleri, played by Luca Zingaretti, has become an unavoidable friend of the Rai 1 audience, winning new public for each film and unanimous consensus. The most successful, award-winning and acclaimed TV movie collection has now reached 30 films overall. The success of the Vigata Commissioner's stories, in addition to the first ever-winning visions of the evening with ratings of well over 11 million viewers and 44% share, has been consolidated over the years thanks to the replies that have enlivened the evenings of the Italians with over 140 issues in prime time, continuing to get recordings even at the sixth or seventh television show. But the success of "Il commissario Montalbano" does not stop at our country, in fact it was the first Italian series sold abroad and over the years it has been broadcast in over 60 countries between Europe and the rest of the world obtaining an excellent public success also in very different countries for audiences like Great Britain and the United States.
