Scottish film producer Christopher Young was a Scottish Film Trainee before taking a Diploma in Film Production at New York University. He trained as a film editor before turning producer and setting up his own company Young Films in 1986.
30 years on Young Films has produced a wide range of feature films and TV including, VENUS PETER (1989), PRAGUE (1992), GREGORY’S TWO GIRLS (1999), THE FINAL CURTAIN (2002), FESTIVAL (2005), SEACHD: THE INACCESSIBLE PINNACLE (2007), THE INBETWEENERS TV SERIES 1 TO 3 (2008-2011) and THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE (2011), THE INVISIBLE LIFE (2014), BANNAN TV SERIES 1 TO 7 (2014-2020) 

Young Films started developing the hit TV show, THE INBETWEENERS in 2006 with Channel 4. The show spawned a massively successful film, which became the largest grossing UK comedy film ever to be released in the UK with a theatrical gross of over £45 m.

From its HQ on the Isle of Skye in 2013 Young Films created a new Scottish Gaelic language drama series BANNAN for BBC Alba. The show is still running, now in its 8th series.The project has not only focused on working with local and Scottish talent and crew, but it has to date successfully trained a large number of new writers, directors, producers and technicians. From this initiative Young Films Foundation was launched in 2017, loosely based on the Sundance model. Its first pilot residential course for new Scottish writers, producers and directors was held in May 2018 in Skye, and next year will be the third edition with 7 lucky Scottish writers on a year-long programme where each will be commissioned by one of BBC Alba, Sky, BBC Drama, C4 Comedy, C4 Drama, BBC Films and Film4.

Young Films has a number of TV and film projects in development, including: SILVER DARLINGS written by Olivia Hetreed; SILENT ROAR, first feature film from writer/director Johnny Barrington (BBC Films); UNFAIR a new comedy series for C4 from Emma Lennox. RED DUST ROAD, a feature film adaptation of poet Jackie Kay’s novel.
