Company Profile
AVALON was founded in 1996 and has become one of Spain’s most innovative independent media groups, focused on the production and distribution of arthouse cinema.
We have produced 19 features, regularly co-producing with Europe and LATAM, and have strengthened our relationship with young Spanish talents by producing films for the international market. Our films have competed at Cannes, San Sebastián, Rotterdam, and the Berlinale.
Carla Simon’s ALCARRÀS won the Golden Bear in 2022. This year, MATRIA by Álvaro Gago was premiered at Panorama Berlinale 2023, and CREATURA by Elena Martín Gimeno in Cannes’ won Europa Cinemas Award at Cannes’ Quinzaine des Cineastes 2023. Other recent titles include Clara Roquet’s LIBERTAD (Semaine de la Critique at Cannes 2021), Núria Gimenez Lorang’s MY MEXICAN BRETZEL (Best Found Footage Award at Rotterdam 2020), or León Siminiani’s NOTES FOR A HEIST FILM (San Sebastián 2018) to name just a few.
Our goal as producers is to find singular perspectives, new styles in filmmaking and stories we consider relevant and feel strongly for, with the aim of giving a voice to a new generation of creators that enable us to reach audiences around the world.

After moving in with her boyfriend to their new home, Mila begins to realize her loss of desire lies deep within. She undergoes a self-exploration journey in which she revisits experiences of her childhood and adolescence in hopes to reconcile with her own body.

As far as they can remember, the Solé family have spent every summer picking the peaches from their orchard in Alcarràs, a small village in Spain. But this year’s crop could be their last, as they face eviction. The new plans for the land include cutting down the peach trees and installing solar panels, which causes a rift within the large tight-knit family. For the first time, they face an uncertain future and risk losing more than their home.
