AVALON is one of Spain’s leading independent production and distribution companies. Founded in 1996, the company today has a catalogue of more than 200 feature and documentary films and releases 10 to 15 films each year. Avalon has produced 22 feature films that have competed at festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, San Sebastián, and Rotterdam, receiving numerous awards. The company has always shown special interest in new talent and singular approaches to filmmaking.
Among our productions is Clara Roquet’s debut film LIBERTAD, which was world premiered in La Semaine de la Critique at Cannes and won 2 Goya Awards for Best New Director and Best Supporting Actress. ALCARRÀS, Carla Simon’s second film won the prestigious Golden Bear for Best Film at Berlinale 2022, and its premiere in Spanish theatres was a smash hit, accumulating more than 400,000 spectators. ALCARRÀS was also nominated for 3 EFA Awards (including Best Film and Best Screenwriter), selected to represent Spain in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2023 Oscar awards, and sold to more than 75 countries. AVALON also produced her feature debut SUMMER 1993, Best First Feature Award at Berlinale and winner of 3 Goya Awards.
In 2023 AVALON produced MATRIA, Álvaro Gago’s debut film, which premiered in Panorama at Berlinale. CREATURA, Elena Martin’s second film, won the Europa Cinemas Label for Best European film in the 2023 Directors’ Fortnight section at Cannes. AVALON’S most recent productions include HALF OF ANA, Marta Nieto’s debut premiered at SEMINCI; THE RED VIRGIN, by Paula Ortiz for Amazon Studios premiered in San Sebastian, which received nine Goya nominations; and GOAT GIRL, Ana Asensio’s second feature film, which premiered at the Málaga Film Festival.
AVALON is currently post-producing, among others, THE GOOD DAUGTHER, by Berlinale Talent 2023 Júlia de Paz, which was one of the participant projects of the Berlinale Script Station; and Salvador Sunyer’s creative documentary QUI SOM. Some of our feature films in development are BASARDA, by Salvador Sunyer and written by Eduard Sola, selected for Les Arcs Co-Production Village; and SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE, María Herrera’s debut feature after her short film A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S TALE -also produced by AVALON- which won the Madrid Film Office Award and the Filmin Award at the 2025 ECAM Forum co-production market. IVÁN & HADOUM, by Ian de la Rosa — a co-production with Germany, supported by ARTE/ZDF and awarded the Eurimages Co-production Development Award at the Berlinale Co-Production Market — has already started shooting.

As far as they can remember, the Solé family have spent every summer picking the peaches from their orchard in Alcarràs, a small village in Spain. But this year´s crop could be their last, as they face eviction. The new plans for the land include cutting down the peach trees and installing solar panels, which causes a rift within the large tightknit family. For the first time, they face an uncertain future and risk losing more than their home.
