Citrullo International is an Italian production company based in Rome. Active since 2001, it develops and produces films, documentaries, and television series for the international market.
Its focus is on supporting talented authors who are able to express their personal vision of the world and stories with a strong creative component. Citrullo International's productions have been presented at the most prestigious Italian (Venice, Turin, Rome) and international (Cannes, Toronto, BFILondon, The Contenders MoMA NYC) festivals and distributed worldwide.
Among the authors with whom Citrullo International has collaborated are Terrence Malick,
Amos Gitai, Giuseppe Tornatore, Amir Naderi, Carlo S. Hintermann, and Giovanni Cioni.

 

He has new projects in development among which FOUR SEASONS by Volker Schlöndorff, a feature film on a special period of Vivaldi’s life, and WHAT REMAINS, a roadmovie of a poetress in Turkey by Yesim Ustaoglu. He is also managing a high profile arthouse catalogue including famous Classics from world acclaimed directors such as Antonioni, Borowczyk, Bresson, Duras, Fellini, Ferreri, Godard, Laloux, Marker, Oshima, Resnais, Tarkovski, Schlöndorff, and Wenders.

Late Middle Ages. Agostino lives in poverty with his wife Nina and his son Giovanni outside a small village at the foot of the mountains. An immense mountain rises like a wall, stopping the sun’s rays and thus reducing their farmland to stones and twigs. Despite all suggestions to move away for a better life, Agostino insists his family’s fate lies there between the peaks. He firmly believes that a man’s roots cannot betray him. Agostino struggles in vain to find a solution to better provide for his starving family. But their lives do not improve, and Agostino decides to challenge the ancient mountain’s immensity and power.

World War II. Tsili, a young Jewish woman, is hiding in the forest South of Czernowicz. Her entire family was deported to the camps.
Inspired by the novel by Aharon Appelfeld, the film tells the story of the wandering of its heroine submerged in the nightmare of the war. Tsili gathers all the forces of intuition and vitality to survive in this desperate universe.
