Seven best friends, six in couples and one divorced, are having one of their regular dinners. The news of the day: some other couple’s breakup was triggered by a single text message that popped up on the cheating husband‘s phone. Naturally everyone loudly claims they are much too faithful and honest to even need any secrecy. Then the first bottle of wine kicks in and soon the friends come up with a pretty tricky game:

All their phones are out on the table! Anything that comes in must be shared with all the others! All calls are to be put on speaker! Every text message, WhatsApp or e-mail must be read out loud. All incoming pictures must be shown around... to everyone. What had started out as a quirky idea, soon becomes quite dramatic and heads straight into a catastrophe. Because apparently everyone hides many more delicate secrets and dirty affairs than anyone would have expected.

For over 30 years, Fabrizio Collini has worked diligently for a German carmaker before going and killing a man, seemingly on a whim. It’s a nightmare for lawyer Caspar Leinen, who takes over his case as a court-assigned lawyer: The victim, respected industrialist Jean-Baptiste Meyer, is the grandfather of his high-school sweetheart Johanna. Everything in this spectacular case seems to be working against the inexperienced lawyer: Caspar Leinen is personally involved, has a client who won’t talk to him, and an opponent who seems far superior in legendary prosecutor Professor Richard Mattinger. When he decides to tackle the case anyway, he starts uncovering one of the greatest legal scandals ever, stretching back to World War II. But how much is he willing to sacrifice to expose the truth?
