COMPANY PROFILE

Hummelfilm is an independent production company, established in 2011, based in Oslo, Norway. Since 2013, Hummelfilm has had a close collaboration with Yellow Bird, producing the TV series OCCUPIED based on an idea by Jo Nesbø. Currently in production with season 3. Hummelfilm aims to produce and co-produce films and TV series that are both artistically strong and has the ability to reach a wide national and international audience. We are always on the lookout for new, long-term collaborators and believe that film should cross cultural and national borders.

 

RUBICON

Rubicon is one of Norway’s most well-established production companies in film and TV. 

Rubicon TV is a significant contributor in the production of original series and films within the genres of comedy, drama, and crime. The company was founded in 1993.. While we have previously been comprehensive suppliers of TV programs across all genres, our current focus is on evolving into a leading force in script-based films and series. The goal is to be a creative powerhouse in Nordic film and TV.

At Rubicon, the creative aspect is at the core of everything we do.

 

We are also dedicated service producers, assisting others in realizing their creative visions. We collaborate with several Nordic companies in script-based production and have ambitions to expand our networks further. Therefore, we are always on the lookout for new, exciting collaborators, both national and international, to collectively create fantastic content.

The third season of OCCUPIED shows what happens in a post-war era. A new parliamentary election is due, and the campaign reignites old conflicts between the Norwegians. Who are the real liberation heroes? How should traitors be treated? And how will the relations with Russia develop? Has Russia actually withdrawn from Norway? Season 3 of OCCUPIED is about national identity in a country at the verge of civil war.

DANIEL tells the story of one of the most spectacular kidnappings in recent times. The protagonist is the young Danish photojournalist Daniel Rye who was held hostage for 398 days in Syria by the terror organisation Islamic State along with several other foreign nationals including the American journalist James Foley. The film follows Daniel’s struggle to survive in captivity, his friendship with James, and the nightmare of the Rye family back home in Denmark as they try to cope with the fear that they may never see their son alive again. At the centre of this crisis, we find hostage negotiator, Arthur, who plays a pivotal role in securing Daniel’s release.

It runs as a suspenseful detective story uncovering one huge bribery scandal after another, involving the top echelons of political power and several well-known multinational corporations.
