Metrafilms group of companies was founded in 1993 by Artem Vasilyev and includes Metrafilms production company, Metrafilms Studio and Metrafilms Studio Moldova.

Today Metrafilms is one of European top independent film companies, specialising in development and production of independent feature films, author-driven series and documentaries.

Metrafilms works with some of the most acclaimed directors and authors in worldwide. The company is constantly cultivating the expertise of international co-production and actively expanding the art-mainstream segment of projects. Films produced by Metrafilms, like Alexey German Jr.’s DOVLATOV and PAPER SOLDIER, Alexey Fedorchenko’s ANNA’S WAR, Michael Idov’s THE HUMORIST have participated and received numerous awards at the most prestigious international film festivals such as Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, SXSW and have been distributed locally and worldwide by key distributors.

Metrafilms Studio produces animation projects, including the world-famous series KID-E-CATS, which has been launched in more that 170 countries, LEX & PLU, SHEEP'S HOTEL and the others, as well as auteur animation projects by renowned animation artists like Konstantin Bronzit, Dmitry Vysotskiy, Andrey Sikrosky, and others.

Studio Metrafilms Moldova develops and produces feature films, author-driven series and animated projects targeted at a wide range of audiences around the globe. Metrafilms collaborates worldwide with well-established production companies, producers, distributors, and studios. The studio's highly experienced producers create and promote animated projects for diverse audiences. Company’s first projects are THE SHEEP’S HOTEL and SONYA FROM TOASTVILLE by Dmitry Vysotsky, author of the highly successful KID-E-CATS series. Production also has released successful six-episode horror anthology RED IRON ROAD and now is working on BEASTLY CRIMES, a detective show for 8 –12 year-olds, based on the book series of the same name.
