COMPANY PROFILE 

 

Tellfilm was founded in 1997 under the name handsUP! Film Production. In 2007, the company was restructured and renamed tellfilm. Stefan Jäger has been managing director since its start. Katrin Renz has been working as a producer and dramaturge for Tellfilm since 2007, and since 2014 she has been CEO and shareholder. In 2020, Danielle Giuliani joined as a shareholder and producer. With the successful production of various feature and documentary films (Ingeborg Bachmann - JOURNEY INTO THE DESERT, YOUTH TOPIA, MONTE VERITÁ, BLUE MY MIND, ANIMALS, and more, TV films (Tatort), as well as documentaries and docu-series for Swiss television, tellfilm has successfully sold its films internationally and screened them worldwide at festivals such as the Berlinale or Locarno. In recent years, tellfilm has increasingly produced co-productions as a minority partner. Among them, is CALCINCULO (IT-CH), which had its world premiere at the Panorama 2022 of the Berlinale. The int. co-production (CH-AT-D-LUX) Ingeborg Bachmann by Margarethe von Trotta premiered in competition of the Berlin IFF 2023, and the first feature GLORIA! by Margherita Vicario premiered in competition of the Berlin IFF 2024. The coproduction Simply Do It by Reto Caduff is currently in post-production. As of late, tellfilm is developing two series and co-producing the feature films MOTHERHOOD, by Johanna Moder, DO YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS, MR. DROWAK? by Nicolas Steiner, and THE PRANK by Benjamin Heisenberg. All three films are scheduled to be filmed in 2024 and are fully financed.

The remarkable and charismatic Ingeborg Bachmann has conquered the male-dominated bastion of German-language literature with her poetry. Though still young, Ingeborg Bachmann is at the peak of her career when she meets the famous playwright Max Frisch. Their love is passionate, but professional and personal friction begins to disrupt the harmony. When Ingeborg is struggling, her friends are there to help, including Hans Werner Henze and the young Adolf Opel, a Viennese journalist and man of literature. They travel to the desert together. On this journey, she finds a way back to herself and – above all – to her writing.
